Practical tips for a stress-free move

Moving is an ideal opportunity to get rid of unnecessary things

Psychologists say that moving is the third most stressful event in life. Very often it represents the end of one and the begining of another chapter in life.

A lot of stress, a race against time broken and scattered things, "where is it" situations are just the beggining of the challenge called moving. If you have moved at least once in your life, then you can understand well what we have written and probably nodding your head. Heavy furniture, wardrobes, decorations, kitchen dishes, books that need to be packed have a cure. Good organization and thorough preparation are key. This is the only way to prevent the move from turning into unnecessary chaos and torture. In the following, we bring you simple and effective tips, with the application of which you can facilitate the entire process of moving.

Make a detailed list

As the organization is the half of the job, it is of great importance that you make a list of the things you need to do in the process of moving. This list will help you to maintain the pace of work during the move and shorten its duration as much as possible. It will also help you to decide what has a space in your new home and what can be left behind you. The list of planned obligations should be very detailed, which  means that need to contains all the obligations and the smallest ones that are supposedly imlied. Grab a pen and nootebook, go through your house room by room and get to work.

Use boxes and stuff sacks for packing

Acording to the amount of things you own, it is necessary to get moving boxes. Feel free to ask in the nearby stores because they are often very happy to give you extra boxes. In addition to boxes, large thick garbage bags are very practical for moving and transporting clothes and bedding as well as other items. Unlike boxes, they are much easier to carry up stairs.

Determine the boxes that are most important

In order to be up and running immediately after you move, pack one box for each room that will take priority over all other packages and mark them with colored markers. The first box should contain things that you want to know where they are the moment youmove into your new home. Furthermore, for every family member you should pack the suitcase or the backpack with necessary things and keep them separate.

Preparing clothes for packing

When you pack ypur clothes, put all the clothes you don't wear at the given moment, that is, which are not adequate for the current season, at the bottom of the box. If you are able, it would be preferable to put the clothes in bags that you can shrink with a vacuum. On that way, you will save a lot of  space.

Protect all the sensitive and fragile object well

The most fragile things during transport are certainly those made of glass. A small blow is enough to create a crack and thus permanently damage a certain object. Therefore, it is a practical solution to wrap all glass items in newspaper and cover them with adhesive tape. This can protect them from shattering, at least in light impacts, but even if a crack does occur, the newspaper and the tape will cushion the impact as much as possible and keep the glass in the frame it's wrapped in.

Packaging of the electrical devices

The best solution for the packaging electrical devices is to put them in their original boves, if you have saved them. If you haven't, definitely use some other, old boves, just try to provide them wll when packaging. If you have computers or routers and similar devices that connect, we suggest you first to take a photo of them connected. That way, you'll know where each cable goes when you reconnect them.

Moving is an ideal opportunity to get rid of unnecessary things

Forethought is a very important element of any move. When you start packing, you'll only realize how much stuff has accumulated over the years and how much stuff you don't really need. Everything you haven't used in a while, simply pack it  in special boxes and then give it away, donate it or sell it. If you manage to sell some things, you can use the earned money to rent a van to move things to a new apartment or house.

Dismantling and assembly of furniture

When the move begins, theres is often a need to disassemble and reassemble some of your bulky and heavy furniture. If you are doing the disassembly yoursel, marks the parts before you start. Place the boards that you take apart "face to face" or "back to back". If you need to stick something on the furniture (drawers/doors), use crepe tape (yellow tape), never use strong tapes beacuse they will damage the furniture and remove the paint and varnish .

Although it seems like a lot of work, it is important that you look at moving as a new opportunity - to make your living space, but also your everyday life, more beautiful and better.

We wish you a happy move.
